Oberon Media COO Don Ryan leaves to start new company.
Oberon Media COO Don Ryan has left the company to launch his own startup, at the same time as a wider round of layoffs takes place at the casual games firm.
Ryan confirmed his departure to Business Insider, although he declined to reveal further details of his new firm.
Meanwhile, the same article claims that as many as 100 people may have been laid off at Oberon, with the company issuing a statement of its own that seemingly confirms the news:
"Oberon is making strategy and organizational changes to better position the company for growth. Changes involve some reduction in force, while others include large new investments."
There's no news yet on how the layoffs will affect Oberon's mobile gaming division, I-play, which had its own round of headcount reduction last year.

This year has seen I-play make the leap to iPhone, releasing several games on the App Store including the innovative Hop Hop All Star.
However, I-play's position in the operator games market is less clear, with suggestions recently that it could be the next mobile games publisher to sign a distribution deal with a larger rival, such as EA.
