I-play launches free MP3 Twitter promotion for iPhone game

Hip Hop All Star players getting treats for tweets.

I-play has won plaudits for its Hip Hop All Star iPhone game, which was one of the first music games to make use of Apple's in-app payments feature.

Now it's got a nifty viral marketing campaign to back it up. The publisher is offering a free MP3 download from the game's soundtrack, featuring Kid Cudi and Busta Rhymes.

However, the publisher wants something in return. To get the download, people have to visit a micro-site and click on a button to tweet a link to the promotion.

It's not the first time this kind of thing has been tried in the music industry - Travis Barker and DJ-Am offered a free MP3 mixtape in this way earlier in the year.

Meanwhile, iPhone games firms are increasingly using Twitter too, although more often by getting players to brag their high scores with a link to the game.
