HTC reveals impressive Q2 financials including 12.1m smartphone sales

But manufacturer also forced to deny that Vodafone is dropping its new EVO 3D.

HTC sold 12.1 million smartphones in the second quarter this year, up an impressive 123.7% on Q2 2010's figure.

The company revealed the growth as part of its second-quarter financials, with new handsets like the Sensation, Evo 3G, Wildfire S, Chacha, Salsa and Flyer all making their debut in Q2 this year.

Revenues for the quarter were NT$124.4 billion (around $4.3 billion), while post-tax profits were $606 million - the latter was up 102.9% year-on-year.

As you can see from the list of new phones, HTC is riding the Android wave, becoming one of the key beneficiaries of the growth of Google's smartphone OS, although the company also makes Windows Phones.

HTC says it expects to ship 13.5 million handsets in the third quarter of this year. However, over the weekend, HTC issued a statement to deny a report in the Economic Daily News that Vodafone has decided to ditch the company's Evo 3D smartphone due to a delay in supplying it.
