HTC opens up Sense user interface to developers

HTC opens up Sense user interface to developers

Early OpenSense partners include LinkedIn, Google Picasa, Gameloft and more.

Sense is the name of the UI that HTC lays over the top of the standard Android OS on its devices. The new initiative lets developers integrate the Sense UI within their applications.

The move marks another extension of the HTC Dev platform and indicates that the Taiwanese device maker – historically happy to just make hardware – is stealthily moving into the content space.

The new program includes an SDK, including documentation and libraries, and community engagement programs for feedback, ideas and concerns.

All the OpenSense tools will be made available within weeks at HTCDev.com.
