Expects zero growth in Q4.
The Taiwanese company has been on a huge growth spurt since it abandoned its white-label Microsoft business model to focus on sleek own-brand Android devices.
So this announcement was unexpected. HTC had previously projected 20 per cent to 30 per cent year on year growth. Revenue in the fourth quarter of 2010 was $3.42 billion.
Shares fell seven per cent.
No reasons were given for the re-calculation but besides global economic slowdown there's no doubt that competition at the top end is extraordinarily intense right now.
Samsung is flying with its Galaxy range, iPhone 4S is out, Nokia is back and marketing hard, and RIM has a bunch of BlackBerrys to push. Meanwhile ZTE and Huawei are upping their games in the mid-range.

HTC said in the filing that it had confidence in its products and business and forecast improved revenue in the first half of 2012.
