Hey, there's already an iSlate app for iPhone

More evidence that Apple's new tablet is called something else?

A question for you: if Apple was going to unveil a tablet called the iSlate next week, would it mind that someone's already selling an app called iSlate on iPhone's App Store?

Well, there is one. iSlate (App Store link) is the work of independent developer ibuiltthis, and was launched in November 2008, with its last update being in May 2009.

It's described as a "digital clapper board that can help video enthusiasts add a touch of Hollywood magic to their videos". The app costs $2.99 / £1.79 in the App Store.

Its continued presence on the store suggests that either a.) Apple hasn't got around to politely suggesting the developer change the name, or b.) isn't that fussed because its tablet isn't called iSlate after all.

Which bolsters the increasing swirl of blogosphere speculation around the name iPad...
