Hands-On Mobile takes World Poker Tour to iPhone

Multiplayer cross-platform Hold'em bluffs its way onto the App Store.

Hands-On Mobile has launched an iPhone version of its World Poker Tour Texas Hold 'Em mobile game. It's available today for £2.39 on the App Store.

Like the most recent version for Java handsets, the game includes an online multiplayer mode. It's fully compatible with the existing versions of the game, including the web version.

The game has been given a graphical overhaul for iPhone, and also includes video and audio clips from the real-life World Poker Tour series. It also allows players to access their iPod music library while playing.

The launch is the first appearance for the World Poker Tour brand on iPhone, and it's notable for having stuck with its existing mobile licensee in Hands-On.

Some other brands have chosen to retain the iPhone rights to develop apps in-house, rather than work with the companies who made their Java games.

However, in this case Hands-On's investment in the online infrastructure required for the multiplayer elements would have made it the logical choice for the WPT.

Like previous versions, the game is purely for fun - players don't bet real money.
