GyPSii launches location-based Twitter app for iPhone

And it's closed a new $11m funding round too.

Mobile social networking firm GyPSii has launched an iPhone Twitter app called Tweetsii, with a focus on location-based features, and support for social apps Foursquare and Gowalla.

Users can see streams of tweets from people around them, as well as from the users that they're following.

Tweetsii also matches tweets to specific places, with the aim of enabling users to find out where people are tweeting from or checking in right now.

Geotagging photos is also a big part of the app, which is free and available now on the App Store.

It'll be interesting to see if it gets a release in China, a territory that's been fuelling GyPSii's growth for the last year.

The company has deals with China Mobile and China Telecom, and added more than one million users in the second half of 2009.

Meanwhile, it's also announcing today that it's taken an $11 million private funding round led by UK firm Schroders, to fuel the company's further expansion.
