Will see the debut of paid subscription model for popular news app.
UK newspaper The Guardian has launched an update to its existing iPhone app, but has warned users to download it quickly, as it will soon be removed from the App Store.
Why? The Guardian is preparing to launch a new version, with extra features and a paid subscription model.
"We'll be launching the new app globally for the first time and although we can't confirm exactly when it will be available, we're working towards a pre-Christmas release," explains The Guardian's Jonathon Moore.
The new app will cost £2.99 for six months' access, and £3.99 for a year, although in the US, it will be free and funded by advertising.
New features include video content, the ability to view reader comments (and, in a future update, post them too), faster updates for liveblog posts, live football scores, and a landscape reading view.

The old Guardian app has been downloaded more than 200,000 times in the last year, and will continue to work for those existing users after it is removed from the App Store.
