GSMA to target brand marketers at MWC 2012

New mPowered Brands feature among revamped programme at mobile's big event.

The GSMA revealed the new component alongside an expanded keynote programme and the return of App Planet for the 2012 GSMA Mobile World Congress, which will be held February 27th to March 1st at the Fira de Barcelona Montjuic in Barcelona.

mPowered Brands will give marketers insights and practical knowledge into the mobile medium. It comprises three elements:

* mPowered Brands Zone - a dedicated mobile marketing-centric exhibition featuring various mobile ad companies.
* mPowered Brands Theatres – a space to host clients and prospects, check out product and service demonstrations, case studies and workshops related to mobile marketing.
* mPowered Brands Mobile Ambassadors - a learning and tour programme to help marketers share perspectives and make connections.

Meanwhile for the third year, the GSMA will host its developer-focused App Planet, which is open to all attendees and will feature:

* Exhibition with more than 200 app-specific exhibitors.
* App Developer Conferences
* Networking areas
* App Challenges – competitions designed to engage the app community

There'll be a new participant at the 2012 event, with Nokia exhibiting in a 2,300 square metre space in App Planet.

And alongside all this will be an expanded keynote programme featuring sessions from some of the world's biggest companies. Speakers comprise:

Sunil Mittal, CEO and MD, Bharti Airtel

Ryuji Yamada, President and CEO, NTT DOCOMO
Franco Bernabe, Chairman and CEO, Telecom Italia Group
Jon Fredrik Baksaas, President and CEO, Telenor Group

In addition there will be dedicated tracks on applications, embedded mobile, mobile advertising, mobile health, mobile money, next-generation technologies and sessions exploring business strategy, cloud computing, developing markets, devices, network capacity, regional issues and social media, among other topics.

GSMA expects more than 1,400 exhibitors and over 60,000 visitors for MWC 2012.
