NFC/mobile money is without doubt the hottest areas in the operator landscape right now. Operators are getting very excited at taking a cut every time someone buys a train ticket or espresso.
That doesn't mean it's necessarily going to deliver; it could be the new mobile TV.
But its vast potential makes it the perfect conference subject. Hence the GSMA NFC & Mobile Money Summit, which will take place at the Milano Congressi in Milan from October 22nd to October 25th.
The event was previously known as the Mobile Money Summit, but has been re-named to take account of the huge interest in contactless NFC tech.
According to Strategy Analytics, nearly 1.5 billion SIM-based handsets will have been sold worldwide between 2010 and 2016, supporting transactions of more than $50 billion globally over the same period.

The NFC & Mobile Money Summit will feature two days of exhibition showcase and conference sessions, augmented by two days of invitation-only industry meetings.
