Becomes its sixth supplier of location-based offers.
Foursquare and Groupon have tied up a deal to offer the latter's daily deals within the former's social location app.
Initially, the partnership was limited to the Chicago area according to Mashable, which reports that Groupon joins rivals LivingSocial, Gilt City, AT&T Interactive, BuyWithMe and Zozi. Groupon deals are now available to Foursquare users across the US and Canada though.
"Foursquare’s goal is to help people connect in the real world, discover new places, and save money through Specials and Deals," a spokesperson tells the tech blog. "We’re excited that Groupon’s daily deals and real-time deals will now be included in our Deals platform."
Daily deals are seen as important for companies like Foursquare as they provide a potentially lucrative revenue stream, combining deep discounts on products and services with geographic targeting.
