Gracenote adds IVR

Gracenote has added IVR to its music ID platform after acquiring Musicphone’s technology.

The US-based company also added AT&T and Virgin Mobile US to its customer base with the deal. The Musicphone technology uses a short code through which consumers can connect to an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) service, and identify songs using the Gracenote Mobile MusicID service. The system then allows for purchasing of the track or other artist-related products. There are 80 million tracks on the database.

Gracenote powers music services for carriers including KDDI in Japan, SKT and KTF in Korea, and France Telecom/Orange in Europe. It also provides music identification technology to Nokia, RIM, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. The company expects to ship its technology on hundreds of millions of handsets in the next two years and process more than 25 million Mobile MusicID searches in 2007.

Jim Hollingsworth, senior vice president sales and marketing of Gracenote. "We're integrating valuable IVR and commerce technology from Musicphone to enhance our mobile media platform and provide further ecommerce opportunities."
