Mulling a bash at the 'physical' goods space.
According to the WSJ, Google is prepping a new product that would represent its first "full-fledged effort to design and market consumer electronics devices" under its own brand.
Previously, of course, the search giant had dabbled by putting its name to a TV service and the Nexus series of phones. And it bought Motorola.
But none of these experiments has gone as far as the home entertainment product being touted now.
The rumours stem from an FCC filing, but the WSJ has ferreted out more detail, claiming that the device will be a Sonos-style home audio system based on Android and using wireless connectivity.
All of which is pretty interesting, but not as dramatic as the mere fact that the product would be made by Google itself and badged with the search giant's own brand rather than licensed out to third party OEMs.
