Web giant's latest comms tool is compatible with iPhone and Android
Google Wave, a new web-based service that consolidates email, IM, file sharing and social networking into a single interface, will - as Techcrunch reports - work on the iPhone and Android devices.
It would seem the service, which has only recently entered beta testing (you can learn more from this Google presentation), has been optimized for the WebKit-based browsers found on the two types of device above.
Interestingly, it seems that Wave works a little differently on the iPhone to the norm - when saved as a bookmark to the iPhone home screen, Wave will open in full-screen without a Safari 'wrapper', so to all intents and purposes looks and feels like an actual app.
It's clear that Wave is going to be quite a disruptive technology if Google has anything to say about it - the basic concept in the words of its creator is 'what email would look like if it was created today'.
We'll be looking more fully into the implications for mobile in the coming weeks.
