Forbidden app could re-appear as an iPhone configured website with functionality intact.
The New York Times is reporting that Google will make the move, allowing Apple users to access the phone management service from the browser.
This would certainly match the Google ethos - its spokespeople have spoken publicly in favour of browsers over apps. Interestingly, this is also the way porn makers have made content available to iPhone owners.
Apple rejected the Google Voice app last week, prompting fevered speculation that the ban was the work of AT&T, which would be naturally unhappy about aiding a service that lets users migrate all calls and messages to the Google-based system.
The move was especially controversial given that Skype and other alternatives to network calls are enabled on the App Store.
