New rankings from Nielsen reveal top destinations and brands
Google Search is the most visited destination on the mobile web in the US, with a unique audience of 27.9 million in December 2009, according to Nielsen.
Yahoo Mail was ranked second with 23.2 million uniques, Facebook third (18.8 million), Gmail fourth (17.6 million) and the Weather Channel fifth (13.8 million).
In terms of brands (i.e. the cumulative audience for each mobile web service a company offers), Google was again top with a unique audience of 36.7 million, with Yahoo second (33.6 million), MSN/Windows Live/Bing third (20.2 million), Facebook fourth (18.8 million) and fifth, somewhat surprisingly we think, AOL media Network (17.3 million).
Nielsen estimates the total US mobile web audience to have been 62 million people in December 2009.
