And that includes 10% of Android users.
Google's Latitude social location service for mobile phones has signed up more than eight million users since launching, of which three million are currently classed as 'active'.
Google's Steve Lee revealed the stats on-stage at the Web 2.0 Expo conference today. "Latitude is not dead," he reminded the audience, according to TechCrunch's report.
Lee also said that 10% of all Android users are using Latitude, which lets them share their location with friends constantly.
Google may tweak the way Latitude works in the future, according to Lee, who suggested that the service could move to a "hybrid model" that includes Foursquare-style check-ins.
He also revealed one stat that hints that Latitude has work to do: a quarter of its users haven't signed up any friends on the service.
