Slaps down Steve Jobs' insinuations about upgrade inflation.
Let's be clear: Apple CEO Steve Jobs was careful last night not to directly accuse Google of inflating its daily Android activations figure with upgrades.
However, when he suggested that some companies might be doing this, it was pretty clear who the target was, given Google's recent claims of 200,000 daily Android activations.
Well, now Google has responded, in a statement sent to Fortune Tech:
"The Android activation numbers do not include upgrades and are, in fact, only a portion of the Android devices in the market since we only include devices that have Google services."
The veiled war of words continues. The wider issue here, of course, is that taking both companies at their word, 430,000 iOS and Android devices are being activated every day.
Good news for developers targeting both platforms, regardless of who wins the boasting battle.
