Global barcode use up 20 per cent in Q3

Daily scans now coming from 141 countries.

The latest figures from barcode provider 3G Vision point to further growth in the space, with increases across all markets.

Indeed, in Spain, the number of scans is up 66.5 per cent in the quarter.

3G Vision doesn't say how many scans are taking place, so it's hard to gauge the actual adoption of the tech. But the numbers are still positive.

Other highlights are:

* Worldwide usage up 20.0 per cent over Q2/2011
* Barcode usage in US up 42.1 per cent, with Canada up 35.1 per cent
*  QRcode activity in the Spain and Australia up 66.5 per cent and  50.9 per cent
