Gilles Babinet - the gift that keeps on giving

Gilles Babinet is at it again – the serial entrepreneur and former Musiwave chief has helped start-up DigiCompanion raise 1.7 million euros in its first funding round.

France-based DigiCompanion has built a white-labelled platform that lets brands send digital gifts to their consumers via mobiles and PC. It offers a catalogue of rights-cleared premium content from which brands can choose prizes that fit the needs of their target consumers and collect CRM data.

Babinet is the non-exec founder of DigiCompanion. It’s his third start-up since leaving Musiwave. The others were Eyeka and mxp4. The round was led by Alven Capital and supported by Ile-de-France Développement (IDFD.

“DigiCompanion allows brands to engage in one-to-one relationship with their customers,” he said. “Consumers are more loyal to their brands if they know that each purchase will give them access to another instalment of content they enjoy; in parallel, brands learn about the consumer’s interests and motivation.”
