London cab booking app plans NYC launch with new coffers.
UK startup GetTaxi launched two years ago, and the new capital brings the firm's total funding to £20 million, with which it plans to roll out to the Big Apple.
The app allows users to book cabs via their smartphones and it's compatible across iOS, Android, BlackBerry and the mobile web.
The service also runs in Russia and Israel, and the startup reckons the platform has a £10 billion annual revenue potential - inclusive of London.
Shahar Waiser, founder and CEO of GetTaxi, said: "We believe consumers and businesses deserve the ability to book and pay for a taxi quickly and securely at the click of a button on their smartphone from anywhere.
"GetTaxi’s vision is to change the industry in such a way that taxis will be affordable for everyone, and available in less than a minute. This will make GetTaxi the preferred choice for getting around the city. We are confident that the GetTaxi phenomenon will spread fast and wide and we plan to be available in all major taxi markets around the world very soon."
