Foursquare but for media, in other words.
Entertainment website GetGlue has launched an iPhone app that applies the Foursquare model of check-ins to media, including TV shows, music, movies and books.
The app gets users to check-in to whatever they're watching, listening to or reading, and share it on Twitter and Facebook.
It also lets them earn 'stickers' (i.e. badges) the more they use the service, for particular achievements. GetGlue is teaming up with a variety of media owners, websites and brands to offer rewards.
Already on board for launch are Showtime, Warner Bros, Random House, Universal Pictures, PBS, Wired, Simon & Schuster, Cinematical, Hachette, Harper, Indiebound, O'Reilly, UGO, and 1UP.
This includes branded stickers for TV shows Dexter and Weeds, movies Scott Pilgrim vs the World and Clash of the Titans, and books like The Passage and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
It's one of the first apps to apply the check-in model to a variety of different media. Apps like Miso have focused on TV alone, though.
