Major shareholder of huch-hyped search and advertising company revealed as Gizmondo's Carl Freer.

ME trawled SEC filings to discover that Freer owns just under 51m shares in Getfugu – equivalent to 35.7 per cent of the total. He's not listed as a director, but does refer to himself as 'business development' for GetFugu on LinkedIn.

It appears that Freer took control of Getfugu when his previous company Media Power bought out a firm called Madero in August 2008. Madero subsequently changed its name to Getfugu.

Freer was never accused of any wrongdoing at Gizmondo, the handheld gaming company that crashed and burned explosively in 2006.

However, Gizmondo's demise was marked by accusations of all manner of misdeeds including fraud and gun ownership among some of its directors.

Despite this, Freer is currently trying to re-launch the device.
