Springer in particular is railing at iPhone censorship.
Stand by for the single greatest quote to date on the subject of Apple's crackdown on saucy iPhone apps:
"Today they censor nipples, tomorrow editorial content."
That's Bild Digital CEO Donata Hopfen speaking. The subsidiary of German publisher Springer is angry that it's not allowed to put naked women in its Shake the Bild Girl iPhone app.
What's more, according to The Guardian, the Association of German Magazine Publishers is so steaming mad at App Store restrictions, it's asked trade body the International Federation of the Periodical Press to complain to Apple.
"Publishers can't sell their soul just to get a few lousy pennies from Apple," he says.

It's hard to see this view prevailing for the time being, though. If Bild is that keen to offer naked thrills to iPhone users, it may have to launch a web app instead.
