Sort of.
A new service called Gatsby aims to introduce Foursquare users to one another, if they have shared interests and are in the same location.
As Mashable explains, people sign up for Gatsby and enter a list of their interests.
Then, whenever they check in at a location, the service lets them know if anyone matching those interests is nearby, and can even set up a text-conversation.
Blind dates on demand! Sort of. One barrier is obviously that Gatsby's success will depend on lots of Foursquare users signing up for it.
It's a step on from Foursquare's basic check-in model though - it will be interesting to see if the company tries to extend in the direction of hooking up strangers itself - or just leaves it to third-party services like Gatsby.
