Gamevil profits hit $2.9m in 1Q10

Korean mobile games publisher posts record revenue and earnings for the quarter

Gamevil has posted a net profit of KRW3.37 billion ($2.9 million) for 1Q10, representing an impressive 99 per cent increase from a year earlier.

The company's revenue came in at KRW6.3 billion for the quarter, up 52 per cent year-on-year.

Gamevil says its 1Q10 sales were led by the Baseball Superstars and Zenonia franchises, new titles such as Soccer Superstars in Korea and general growth from Apple's App Store and Google's Android Market overseas.

In fact, the company's consolidated overseas revenue increased 53.7 per cent compared to 1Q09, and 12.5 per cent compared to 4Q09.

Yong Kuk Lee, Gamevil's Chief Financial Officer, said: "Opportunity for growth in the global market through open markets such as Apple's App Store has been a big momentum. We will continue promptly adapt to the rising base of advanced mobile platforms and deliveries through digital distribution."
