Korean mobile games publisher reveals Q1 revenues of $5.9m and a net profit of $2.3m.

Korean mobile games publisher Gamevil has announced another strong set of quarterly financials, fuelled by increased sales of its smartphone titles both at home and overseas.

The company's Q1 revenues were 6.4 billion KRW (around $5.9 million), with a net profit of 2.5 billion KRW ($2.3 million). The publisher says its consolidated overseas revenue was up 37% year-on-year, while its smartphone revenues jumped by 211%.

"We expect even more growth coming from smartphones and overseas in the second quarter," says CFO and EVP Yong Kuk Lee. "Growth will com from new titles like Air Penguin reaching number one on Apple's App Store and with new sequels of Zenonia and Baseball Superstars coming for both Apple and Google Android devices."

Gamevil is also continuing its expansion into social games, with games like Train City, Baseball Superleague and Chalk'n'Talk, while working with more external developers.
