Games revenues plummet in Q2

Tough times for mobile games publishers, with iSuppli claiming a nine per cent drop in Q2 2007.

The market watcher says the fall compares with 11 per cent growth in the first quarter. It claims the number of active consumers remains small and expects fresh moves by the industry to target new demographic groups – and more work on mobility, connectivity, community and location.

Despite the short-term setback, iSuppli says mobile gaming revenue is expected to nearly triple by 2011, growing to $6.6 billion from $2.3 billion in 2006.

Meanwhile iSuppli is forecasting sharp growth in mobile video. It says the market will reach $14.6 billion by 2011 from $977 million in 2006.
