Taking over YouTube Mobile for a day to promote its own channel.
Mobile games publisher Gameloft is taking over YouTube's mobile homepage in France today, in a 24-hour 'awareness test' to plug its own YouTube channel.
Gameloft is hoping to drive more views of its game trailers, which have so far racked up more than 20 million views on YouTube. It regularly debuts footage of new iOS games on the channel, while using Facebook and Twitter to drive traffic to it.
"Gameloft was one of the first to integrate social networking into its communications," says VP of marketing Karine Kaiser. "We are pleased to extend our long-standing partnership with YouTube, which shows our drive to push the boundaries with new media and strengthen the close connection we have with our fans."
Gameloft becomes one of the brands taking advantage of Google's takeover offering, where they get 100% of the ads on the YouTube mobile homepage for a 24-hour period.
