Telefónica launches Telegent-powered mobile TV-enabled handset.

Telefónica Móviles Perú has begun offering the ZTE i766 handset, which can pick up regular analogue free-to-air TV signals.

The device, which carries Telegent Systems' mobile TV solution, is branded with Telefónica’s Movistar logo and is available in the company's retail outlets for 499 soles on a pre-paid basis.

Telefonica is pitching the ZTE i766 to workers with long commutes or for consumers who would like a second TV, or TV portability within the home.

Gustavo Kitazono, director of strategic planning of Telefónica Móviles Perú, said: "The live TV feature differentiates our product offering and gives consumers what they want – access to their favorite programs while they are on the move."
