Fox Mobile makes redundancies

75 employees let go as content firm struggles in post-ringtone era.

It's an open secret that News Corp wants to sell Fox Mobile, which is the current incarnation of Jamba, bought for $400m in 2006 from Verisign.

In the meantime, it's clearly trying to run the firm as efficiently as possible.

mocoNews.net
reported a source close to Fox confirming the cuts in Germany are in the region of 15 per cent of staff, or around 75 employees.

The source said the cuts will streamline operations without any specific operations shutting down.

That said, Fox is planning a shift in its focus. Its statement said: “Fox will restructure its worldwide mobile entertainment businesses in order to focus resources on core assets and invest for future growth in high-potential areas such as its on-demand mobile video and entertainment platform.

"As a result of this decision, there was a reduction in the company’s global workforce.”
