Foursquare inks deal with NBC's Today Show

Wants people to check-in at gigs outside its studio.

Foursquare has announced its latest media partnership, with US broadcaster NBC's The Today Show.

The deal is based around the show's annual Concert Series, which sees pop stars and bands playing gigs outside its studios in New York.

This year's series includes performances by the likes of Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry. NBC wants fans attending the gigs to check-in using Foursquare to win special badges.

They include a Newbie badge the first time they do it, a Roker badge for checking in three times, and a 10 to 10 if they make it along to ten of the concerts.

(That's not a misspelling above: Al Roker is the Today Show's weatherman).

It's the latest deal signed by Foursquare with a broadcaster, following existing partnerships with VH1, Bravo and The History Channel.

They're helping the social location service to raise awareness outside the early adopters who've helped it top one million registered users in its first year.
