Check in wherever you like.
Social location app Foursquare has dropped its requirement that users have to be in certain cities to check into locations, opening it up to everyone.
It's a big deal for the service, as it lets any user tell the app where they are, whether it's previously unsupported cities, small towns or even their own home.
The new feature is being soft-launched according to CNET, and will gradually become available to users of Foursquare's iPhone, Android and Palm Pre apps, as well as its mobile website.
The move will vastly expand Foursquare's database of pubs, bars, clubs and other venues, relying on users to add them rather than the company's own staff.
It's the latest salvo in the ongoing war of innovation between Foursquare, Gowalla, Rummble and other social location apps.
