Average game viewership spiking to 41 minutes

FLO TV, which is offering ESPN's live coverage of all of the 2010 FIFA World Cup matches to its US subscribers, has broken out more top line viewing figures.

Three of the games now rank among FLO TV’s most-viewed programmes and average viewership spiked to 41 minutes on June 22nd, driven by the Mexico vs Uruguay game (the France-Mexico game on June 17 is now the highest-rated sports telecast in FLO TV’s history.

Total usage minutes for FLO TV were up 34 per cent in June over May and nearly one-in-five viewers were watching FLO TV for more than 60 minutes per viewing day.

In addition, some games are capturing the majority of viewers during their timeframe - the USA vs Ghana match attracted three quarters of all FLO TV viewers.

Overall, World Cup matches are capturing 40-80 per cent of the FLO TV viewing audience.

FLO TV first broke out stats on June 23rd, when the South Africa vs Mexico opening game was its highest-rated sports telecast.

Yesterday, MobiTV said it has streamed 88 million minutes of World Cup action as of July 2nd, which it says is equivalent to one viewer spending 61,111 consecutive days in front of the TV.
