Is this Facebook's Groupon-killer?

Facebook head of commerce product marketing Deb Liu told the Inside Social Apps Conference that the new feature would allow users to share purchases in their update stream, and also let one user “unlock” a deal to redeem the same offer.

In tests, Facebook has found that more than 50 per cent of users chose to share a purchase their friends.

One can see how this could become an important new facet to the new Facebook Credits virtual currency that the firm will mandate for all games from July.

The killer will be if it starts to extend the idea beyond virtual items and into the real world.

What could that do for Groupon, the world's fastest company to a $1bn turnover?
