To celebrate, Facebook is launching a new application called Facebook Stories where users can share their stories and read hundreds of others, categorized by themes and locations around the world.
They currently include the example of Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who would go jogging with 100 of his fans from Facebook.
There was nothing in the blog announcing the 500m figure about mobile users. The most recent update said there were 150m.
