That's than 50 per cent of its total registered users.
By the end of Q3, we reported that the world's largest social network had secured 350 million active mobile users, while it had 800 million monthly active users in total.
Now, with the release of its S-1 filing, Facebook says it received over 425 million monthly active mobile users and 845 million monthly active users in December 2011.
Users can access the website through the mobile web as well as smartphone apps, which run across iOS, Android, BlackBerry and more.
Additionally, the firm says its app is the most frequently downloaded across all major smartphone platforms in the US, and believes that use will continue to grow with the aid of youngsters.
Facebook's filing said: "We also believe that younger users have higher levels of engagement with the web and mobile devices in general and with Facebook specifically.

"We anticipate that demographic trends over the long term may contribute to growth in engagement as a greater number of users will come from demographic groups that have grown up with the web and mobile devices and who spend more time online every day."
Other figures show that Facebook experiences 2.7 billion 'Likes' and comments each day, as well as 250 million photos uploaded daily. The social network is predicted to hit the one billion active user mark by August 2012.
