What better time to update its SDK for Apple's iOS?

Facebook now has more than 150 million people actively using it from mobile devices, according to an official blog post from engineer Yujuan Bao.

That's up from 100 million in February this year.

The news came in BAO's post about an update to Facebook's SDK for Apple's iOS devices, which dictates how app developers can connect to the social network.

There are two significant new features: use of Facebook's Graph API, which offers deeper integration with people's social connections; and authentication using the OAuth 2.0 standard.

"With more than 150 million people actively using Facebook from mobile devices, we have a commitment to not only developing our own mobile sites and apps, but ensuring that developers can also build similar social experiences," writes Bao.

Although Apple will soon launch its Game Center platform for gaming-specific community features, Facebook (along with Twitter) has become a standard way for iOS developers to connect app users with their friends.
