Facebook's head of mobile products Erick Tseng told the MobileBeat conference that the company will start building out this effort over the next few months.
“We want to provide mobile developers with all the goodness of the open graph,” he said.
This could be hugely significant as the opening up of Facebook's platform on the fixed web has led to an explosion of creativity from developers and a consequent increase in 'stickiness'.
Indeed, it now supports more than 550,000 applications and one million developers.
Tseng cited socially intelligent apps that could layer friends' tastes onto nearly locations as one exciting possibility.
