Facebook Mobile app tops GetJar UK downloads chart

September rundown also good news for eBuddy, Google and Nimbuzz.

Facebook Mobile was the most-downloaded application by UK users of GetJar in September, according to information shared with ME by the indie app store.

It topped the rankings above eBuddy, Google, Nimbuzz and Vuclip Mobile Video Search in positions two to five. Also represented on the Top 20 are YouTube Web (7), Google Maps (11) and MTV Mobile (19).

Two different versions of the Opera Mini browser feature in the chart too - Opera Mini 4 is in ninth place, while the beta version of Opera Mini 5 sits in fourteenth.

One category of apps that UK GetJar users aren't so keen on is games, judging by the chart. Only one game is in the Top 20 - TicTacToe Game in fifteenth position.

It's unsurprising that Facebook has topped the chart: GetJar has been working with the social network to direct visitors on its mobile site to its downloadable application.

When eBuddy was the most popular app in July, GetJar said it was being downloaded more than 1.2 million times a week. The implication is that Facebook may now be exceeding that amount.

The global GetJar chart for September looks similar at the top, with the same top three: Facebook Mobile, eBuddy and Nimbuzz.
