Over one billion phones will ship with memory card slots by 2011, says Strategy Analytics.
It is predicting that shipments will grow at an average 13 per cent per year over the next five years. The market watchers new report says 592 million "slotted" phones were shipped worldwide in 2007, representing 53 per cent of the total.It also reveals that the microSD slot format is has overshadowed MMC format, and should command 86 per cent of the market by 2011. However, SD will face Universal Flash Storage (UFS) and other formats.
