MMA research indicates rising popularity of wireless financial services

The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) says 14 per cent of UK and nine per cent of French and German adult consumers are already using mobile banking services.

In all three countries SMS is currently the most popular medium for the delivery of mobile banking services and information, followed by the mobile Internet

Between one and three per cent of consumers have used downloadable mobile banking apps.

Looking forward, twenty-three per cent of UK, 12 per cent of French and 15 per cent of German consumers expect to adopt mobile banking in 2010.

Last week, the MMA published research that showed 17 per cent  of US adult consumers are using mobile banking.

The European numbers are the first results from study into mobile banking services in the UK, French and German markets, carried out by the Mobile Marketing Association and Lightspeed Research.
