More than 200m people expected to use apps for work this year.
ME Award winner Mubaloo recently held a conference on producing mobile apps for businesses and brands, offering interesting stats and insights that detailed the various considerations companies should bear in mind.
Strategy Analytics now reveals how lucrative the enterprise app – enabling collaboration, productivity and more – space is, as 2012 revenues hit $25 billion and are expected to nearly double by 2017.
Meanwhile, 200 million people are expected to use mobile business apps in the workplace this year.
Mark Levitt, director of business cloud strategies research at Strategy Analytics, said: "The consumer mobile experience has taught mobile workers to expect, even demand, access to information and applications from anywhere using mobile devices.
"Mobile workers have moved beyond just mobile email and messaging to include other collaboration apps such as conferencing, productivity apps such as content authoring, and business process apps such as customer relationship management (CRM) and even enterprise resource planning (ERP)."
