EMI embraces iPhone marketing

Record label to push new Sigur Ros DVD using iPhone and iPod Touch microsites.

EMI has created an optimised microsite for the iPhone and iPod Touch that includes the full-length trailer of the Heima documentary, with a video stream that adapts depending on whether the device is connected via Wi Fi or mobile network.

The site also makes use of a Yahoo! Maps mash-up tool, allowing the viewer to navigate over a map of Iceland and click on the various locations where Sigur Ros perform in the film.

Also included in the site are links to the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store.

Eric Winbolt, head of digital at EMI Records, said: "These touchscreen wireless devices offer an exceptional user experience. Being the first truly converged mass market devices to do so, we were very keen to use them to showcase our artists’ content and offer the consumer this unbeatable user experience."
