Edge iPhone game returns to the App Store

And it's riding high in the charts.

iPhone game Edge has returned to the App Store, following a long and acrimonious trademark dispute over its name.

Its developer, Mobigame, has emailed contacts confirming that the game is available again in the US and UK App Stores.

"During one year we had to fight a fraud to release our game in the US and in the UK. Today the justice will take care of him. We fought not only for us, but also for other indies and bigger companies."

The company had faced legal threats from Edge Games, whose boss Tim Langdell has become a controversial figure within the games industry for his insistence that any game with 'Edge' in the title must pay him a licensing fee.

Although much of Edge Games' litigation has focused on independent developers, last year Electronic Arts joined the fray, after releasing its Mirror's Edge console game.

Mobigame certainly has reason to cheer the reappearance of Edge on the App Store. In the US, it's currently riding high at third place in the Paid Apps chart.
