Good times for auction giant on smartphones.
eBay already has an iPhone app available, but the auction site has just launched a separate app called Deals, focusing purely on bargains.
The free application lets users scan cheap offers on the site - listings with less than four hours to go, with no bids or reserve prices - and ties in with eBay's 12 Days of Deals promotion, which kicks off this Friday.
"Our new Deals app allows you to create and personalise your own deal searches on the fly," says eBay Marketplaces president Lorrie Norrington. "This means you'll never miss a deal... and the deals will find you."
The company has just upgraded its main iPhone app to include social networking features, while also revamping its mobile internet site. Earlier this month, eBay also unveiled its BlackBerry app.
All this mobile activity seems to be paying off: eBay says it expects more than $500 million of merchandise to be bought via its mobile service this year, with a purchase being made every two seconds.

The existing iPhone app has so far been downloaded more than five million times.
