EA mulling Glu acquisition?

Reports suggest video games giant is considering a bid for its mobile rival.

Seeking Alpha is reporting that Electronic Arts is considering the acquisition of specialist mobile games rival Glu.

The article cites performance of Glu's stock on Nasdaq last week, which traded 65 per cent higher on double normal trading volumes while the index as a whole fell.

Seeking Alpha said this activity followed rumours that EA was seeking an acquisition to boost its mobile business in Asia.

Glu is currently valued at $23 million compared to $327 million at IPO almost two years ago. EA has a cash balance of $2.5 billion, so could certainly take the hit required to secure Glu's assets.

There have been a few shake-ups at EA Mobile recently too, most notably in Europe where marketing chief Tim Harrison has left his post, with VP of publishing Javier Ferreira moving on too in April.
