EA Mobile takes its big games to BlackBerry App World

Want to fend off mission-critical push emails from your boss by playing Tetris? There's an app for that...

EA Mobile has announced the launch of eight new games on RIM's BlackBerry App World store, including some of its most popular mobile titles.

The full list: Tetris, Tetris Mania, The Sims 3, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, Bejeweled, Need for Speed Undercover, Risk and Scrabble. The latter is available in the US and Canada only.

They're not the first EA games to hit the App World - they take the publisher's total to 18 - but the new batch shows that EA is throwing its weight behind RIM's app store.

"We look for the BlackBerry App World to become an important channel for EA Mobile, providing convenient access of our great games to BlackBerry customers everywhere," says VP of worldwide publishing Adam Sussman.

The news means BlackBerry will be the latest arena for EA's battle with fierce rival Gameloft, which had eight of the top 50 selling games on App World when ME analysed its chart last week.
