Unit generates $47 million in quarter ending Sep 30th and says it will meet full-year targets.
Electronic Arts says its mobile business generated sales of $47 million in the company's 2Q08, representing 24 per cent growth year-on year.EA says its wireless revenue is up 25 per cent for the first six months ($91 million) and is on track to generate over $185 million for the full fiscal year, in-line with its previous guidance.
To put the Q2 results into some context, wireless accounted for 37 per cent of EA's total mobility revenues (wireless, PSP, DS, GBA) and 5.3 per cent of total revenue.
Interestingly, EA says it generated $110 million from digital direct-to-consumer sales in Q2, up 33 per cent year-on-year and 22 per cent sequentially, attributing the growth to wireless, digital downloads, advertising and Pogo.com subs.
Overall, however, EA's 2Q performance wasn't so great - though sales were up a healthy 40 per cent losses increased significantly and the company confirmed it will be laying off six per cent of its workforce.
